You looked deeper

So do we.

Inside this garment is a dimpora® membrane: a layer just microns thin that keeps rain out, lets heat escape, and changes how technical protection feels.

Not bad for something you’ll never see.

same dry. different nature.

Staying dry was always the job. What changed is how we get there.

Under the microscope, it gets even more interesting.

Performance levels

You’re probably here for the numbers. Fair.

  • Waterproofness up to 20,000 mm (JIS L 1092).
  • Breathability up to 5,500 g/m²/24h. (JIS 1099 A1)

Useful? To some extent.

The full story? Not quite.

Performance numbers can change a lot depending on the test method used. That is why we do not believe in throwing out big figures without context.

Real performance starts where lab conditions end.

We wrote about what these numbers actually mean.

Confused by breathability ratings? We tested 6 standards.

Why 20K doesn’t always mean dry

What’s inside this garment

The membrane inside this garment is dimpora® BIO –

A high-performance membrane made with over 60% bio-based content.

  • The bio-based part comes from castor oil, a renewable crop that does not compete with food production or drive deforestation.

  • The remaining synthetic part is there for a reason, it’s what makes it perform.

We’re working on pushing it further. But not at the cost of the performance you bought this garment for.

Still no forever chemicals. That part was never negotiable.

Why it exists

For a long time, the waterproof layer inside outdoor gear relied on PFAS and solvents.

They worked.

They also came with chemistry that did not sit right with us.

After years of research we built a new process. One that creates waterproof breathable membranes without toxic chemicals, and with possibilities that simply didn’t exist before. We call it CoreLayer™.

It is how dimpora® came to life.

And it is why this layer does not follow the usual script.

Built to improve

CoreLayer™ was never meant to make just one membrane and stop there.

It was built to keep moving.

  • Different materials.
  • Different performance profiles.
  • Different end-of-life possibilities.

dimpora® BIO is where it starts. It won’t be where it ends.

So yes, this garment contains a high-performance membrane.

But it also contains an idea we plan to keep pushing.

If you come back in a few years, it should look different.

That is the point.

The people behind

Engineers, scientists, product people, brand people.

More years of work than is probably reasonable for something most people never see.

That is the nature of membranes.

A lot of serious thinking goes into making one that performs properly without PFAS, without solvents, and without cutting corners where it counts.

It also helps when someone notices that the layer doing the hard work might deserve a closer look.

Because progress is not just about inventing better materials.

It is also about expecting them.

You seem to have similar instincts.
